Son of James and Mary Harcus Dodds of Concord West, NSW
Flying Officer James Dodds (Observer) RAAF 402014 was killed in the loss of Blenheim Z9588 in the Eastern Mediterranean while taking part in an anti-submarine patrol from Beirut to the coast 10 miles east of Suez
Wing Commander (pilot) Russell Darby Welland 37308 RAF (the CO of 55SQN) was also killed along with Sergeant James Williams Lucas (WOp/AG) RAFVR 751653 & Major Ivor Kingsley Whittaker Australian Army VX24 of HQ 1 Corps
