38SQN RAAF Dakota A65-61 crashed near Merauke, Dutch NG while on a mission to return 18 former POWs to Australia

Biography
William Royce DUNDERDALE was born on 18th May, Brisbane, Queensland
His parents were William Charles DUNDERDALE and Victoria WOODWARD
He enlisted with the Royal Australian Air Force on 14th June, 1944
William died when the plane he was travelling in on his way home from the war (Dakota A65-61) crashed during bad weather on 18th September, 1945 in Biak Island, Dutch New Guinea - he is buried in Port Moresby (Bomana) War Cemetery and is also commemorated on the Australian War Memorial
