Sam was the son of Andrew (Drewy) Dyson (b1858 in Perth WA) and Charlotte Ashworth (b1862 in York, WA). Drewy (a Dealer) and Charlotte married in York WA in 1881 and settled in Perth WA where Drewy worked as a Dealer. The couple adopted William Victor (the son of Drewy's sister Mabel).
Sam worked as a Packer/Warehouseman in Perth WA before enlisting in the AIF in 1914. He served as a Private (Service No:26) with 11th Infantry Battalion and the Postal Corps in Gallipoli and France. Sam and his wife Mabel (Mary) Ursula Gould (b1896 in Winkfield, Berkshire) married in London in 1916 - Mary was working as a Lady's Maid in Pimlico. Their first child was born the next year in Surrey.
Settling in Perth, WA Sam worked as a Salesman and enlisted in the ACMF in WWII (Warrant Officer II; Service No:W237592). He died in 1944. Sons Cyril, Douglas and Gerald served in WWII and Stanley enlisted in the RAN in February 1950.
Mary died in 1974.
