Leading Aircraftman George Jarvis Edwards 25843 was killed when Empire Flying Boat A18-11 of 33SQN RAAF sank after a rough water landing.
The aircraft departed from Horn Island on a reconnaissance flight and was originally posted as missing with all hands, but all other crew were recovered.
His body was not recovered and he is commemorated on the Lae Memorial
