Mr. G. Hanson received word on Wednesday from military authorities that Pte. Elemes had died in Greenmount Hospital, Brisbane, and was to be buried on Thursday. Previously Mr Hanson had been advised that Pte. Elmes was seriously ill. QX1351, Pte. Elmes, served in Syria and Libya, and was one of the first to enlist in Queensland, and was amongst the first units to go overseas. He was well-known in the Roma district, where he followed bush work, and came to the district from New South Wales about 1929. It is not known whether he has any relatives .
