Sergeant Fred Emsley 41997 of Number 1 Transport & Movement Office was killed when the RAAF Supply Ship MV (Motor Vessel) Wanaka was driven onto the Great Barrier Reef (Eden Reef) in 130 MPH winds and went on her side on 16th December 1943.
