Charles arrived in Australia from New York, USA on 28 August 1902 aboard the sailing ship Port Elgin disembarking in Melbourne, Victoria and residing there for twelve months before moving to WA where he lived for 12 years.
Address at the time of enlistment was Royal Coffee Palace, Geraldton, WA. Naturalised in Geraldton, WA on 22 December 1915.
On his Naturalisation Application he gave his date of birth as 3 August 1864 but when enlisting he gave his age as 44 considerably lower than his actual age.
Husband of Mary Valk of West Street, North Sydney, NSW.
Returned to Australia on 12 September 1917 aboard HT Euripidies. Following his discharged he contiuned travel to Sydney aboard HT Benalla
