Extract from Military Service History

Court of Inquiry conducted 9th October 1945 noted “death was due to penetrating gunshot wound from a .38 service revolver to the left breast piercing his heart. The shot was fired by another member of the Australian Military Forces who acted in self-defence in performance of his normal military duties.”
