Pilot officer Forbes was a crew member in the Beaufort A9-314 aircraft, No.14 Squadron R.A.A.F., which was on a travel flight from Broome to Carnarvon when it became lost at night and crashed near Northampton, W.A.

AIR ACCIDENT.
Six Men Killed.
In an aircraft accident in this State on Sunday six members of the RAAF, including four from WA, were killed. Two members of the aircraft escaped uninjured.
The six who were killed were as follows:
RANDALL, Flying-Officer John Maxwell, of Queen's road, New Lambton, N.S.W..
FORBES, Pilot-Officer John McPherson, of Beverley, W.A.
BROCK, Flight-Sgt James, of Hallora, via Drouin West, Victoria.
ANDRE, LAC John Jeffery, of Andrews street, Esperance, W.A.
RASTON, Thomas Noel Ryder, of Kellerberrin, W.A.
SMITH, LAC Harold William, of Canning-highway, Perth, W.A.
Survivors are F/Sgt K.J. Clarke & F/Sgt J.J. Callaghan who parachuted to safety.
