Pilot Officer Hubert Thomas Freeman 404240 of 155 Squadron RAF was killed when Mohawk BJ442 crashed while intercepting Japanese fighters in the Imphal area
His body was not recovered and he is commemorated on the Singapore Memorial
Also lost on this mission was FSGT James Alexander Simpson 946014 RAF flying Mohawk BK879
