On 7 Apr 1942 P1203 a 455 Sqn (UB-T) RAAF Hampden departed Wigsley on a bombing run to Essen. The aircraft was shot down and claimed by Oblt Helmut Woltersdorf 7/NJG1, 5 km West of Heerde South of Zwolle at 04.13 with the loss of all crew.
