LAC Garden 78012 of Number 8 Service Flying Training School Bundaberg started Avro Anson aircraft W2150 and walked to the front of the machine where he came in contact with the propeller and died instantly from severe head injuries

In the years before enlisting in the RAAF, Harold worked as a truck driver for Kilcoy Council, completing his own running repairs as required.
Harold and his wife Florence had two daughters, both young children at the time of Harold's accidental death.
