Biography

Leslie Chester Master GARLING was born on 7th September, 1920 in Sydney NSW

His parents were Henry Chester Master GARLING and Violette Beatrice HARPER

He enlisted on 19th August, 1940 with the Royal Australian Air Force - he was a Flying Officer in the 25 squadron

Leslie died in an air accident when over Pearce RAAF Base on a meteoroligcal flight when his aircraft dived in a low hill one mile east. The Crew. Pilot Leslie Garling and Navigator Frederick Cecil Smith were both killed - the Plane was a Vultee Vengeance (27-246) - he is buried in Perth War Cemetery & Annex which is part of Karrakatta Cemetery

R.A.A.F. Plane crashes - two Airmen Killed Perth - when an aircraft crashed close to an RAAF airfield on Sunday two men were killed.  The victims were Flying Officer Leslie Chester Master Garling of 16 Manning Road, Double Bay (NSW) Pilot, and Sergeant Frederick Cecil Smith of 34 Royal St. East Perth, Observer.
