James Monaghan GARRETT was born in Braidwood, NSW on 31st October, 1899

His parents were Clyde Stafford GARRETT & Frances Maria PIERCY who married in Sydney in 1886

He married Alma Frances LOWE in Inverell, NSW in 1924

He served in both WW1 in the Camel Corp and the 1st Light Horse Regiment and returned to Australia on 13th March, 1919 and was discharged on 17th May, 1919 - served during WW2 in the 49th Infantry Battalion

James died of wounds on 9th December, 1942 in Papua New Guinea and is buried in the Bomana War Cemetery
