The details provided are taken from the book "1000 Men at War" the history of the 2nd/16th Infantry Battalion, published 1959, refer to page 215. Charles was born 28th Jan 1920, and prior to the war he was a masseur of Caulfield Vic, and he had served in the Militia in a heavy artillery unit. He enlisted into the AIF in Victoria, hence the VX regimental number, and later transferred into the 2nd/16th Inf Bn where he served as a Lieutenant. Unfortunately, he Died of Injuries sustained on 11th Nov 1944. Rest In Peace. Lest We Forget.
