The details provided are taken from the book "1000 Men at War" the history of the 2nd/16th Infantry Battalion, published 1959, refer to page 126. Ernest was born 15th Feb 1917, and prior to the war he was an architectural draftsman of Darlington WA, and served in the 16th Battalion Militia. He served with the 2nd/16th Inf Bn with the rank of Lieutenant and was Mentioned In Dispatches for his actions. Unfortunately, he Died of the Wounds incurred in battle 24th Oct 1942. Rest In Peace.
