Son of Victor Vivian and Blanche Maud Gumley of Cressy, Victoria

 

Mid-air collision during formation flying over Durdidwarrah Dam, 7 miles east of Meredith, Victoria between two Oxford training aircraft from 1 Service Flying Training School, Point Cook.  All crew involved were killed:

Oxford EB897 - Leading Aircraftmen Alan Kenneth Goyne 428043 & Albert Ian Gumley 418266

Oxford AS909 - Leading Aircraftmen David George Haig 34331 & Noel Irvine Crane 419848
