Group Captain Frederick James Byam Wight and WGCDR Walter Lawrence Hammond from Number 10 Operational Group HQ were killed when Avro Anson LT294 crashed at Mt Kenevi, PNG
Their remains were not recovered until 1965 - GPCAPT Wight was the most senior RAAF officer to go missing during WW2
