Flight Sergeant James Valentine Hardiman 420664 (Instructor) was killed when Cessna T-50 Crane training aircraft 8127 from Number 3 Service Flying Training School (3 SFTS) RCAF was involved in a mid-air collision (NFI) while carrying out a bombing exercise in Calgary, Alberta, Canada
The student pilot on board was slightly injured in the incident: LAC John Loftus Ayton 428036 RAAF (discharged from the RAAF in July 1945 with the rank of Flying Officer)
