Flying Officer Edwin Sautelle Hayes 405178 was killed when Kittyhawk FR316 of Number 2 Aircraft Delivery Unit RAF (2ADU) crashed near Barce, Libya - his body was not recovered and he is commemorated on the Alamein Memorial
Flying Officer Hayes was previously involved in a mid-air collision while undergoing training in Sudan - Pilot Officer Holgate 403338 was killed in that incident
