William Roy Wilden was born in Hindmarsh, South Australia, and worked as a laborer before enlisting in the war on April the 3rd, 1916 in South Australia. He had a mother named Ms. Catherine Wilden and his father's name is unknown. He moved to East Street, Brompton with his mother, and lived there. William Roy Wilden was 5 foot 5 ½ inches, had grey eyes, brown hair, and his religion was Methodist. He embarked on his journey to WW1 on the board HMAT A68 Anchises on the 28 August, 1916, to England. He was wounded multiple times during the war, on 20 September 1917 at Menin Road and on 2 September 1918 at Mont St Quentin. He served mainly in France on the front lines of the war and was sentenced to 6 months hard labour (later commuted) on 17 April 1917 for striking a superior officer. He returned to Australia on 4 January 1919 and he continued to live in Brompton in Australia, after the war. William Roy Wilden received an award for his service in France as a Soldier of the Australian army. Information about his death is unknown and where his grave and cemetery are located is also unknown.
