LONGREACH AIRMAN MISSING
Official advice has been received by Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Hoskin, Kingfisher Street, Longreach that their son, Sergt. R. C. L. (Dick) Hoskln has been reported missing in air operations. The information so far reveals that Sergt. Hoskin was a member of the crew of a Halifax Bomber which was detailed to attack Frankfort, Germany last Monday, 20th December and failed to return to its base presumably due to enemy action. Sergt. Hoskin is well-known in Longreach; his parents being very old residents of the town. He is a native of Longreach and obtained a scholarship from the Longreach State School, finally being successful in the Junior Universlty examinations at the Rockhampton Boys' Grammar School. He then entered the Rockhampton office of the Toowoomba Foundry Co. Pty. Ltd., whence he was granted leave to enlist, and joined the R.A.A.F. from Longreach. After preliminary training In Australia he proceeded to England for final training. An airgraph letter received from Sergt. Hoskln and written on 19th November indicates that he was in good health and cheerfully facing up to his arduous duties.
