Parents: -  Leslie Mervyn Howship and Frances Dorothy Johnson married 21st February 1920 in Thornbury, Victoria.

RAAF Avro Anson W2039 crashed into the sea off Gypsy Point, whilst on a test flight approximately 30 kilometres north west of Mallacoota with the lost of all crew.

The military airfield at Mallacoota, Victoria played a role in the protection of shipping along the Victorian, Australian coastline by providing facilities for refuelling, re-arming and maintenance of aircraft engaged in anti-submarine reconnaissance patrols.
