Flight Lieutenant Hunter from Number 3 Service Flying Training School (3SFTS) based at Amberley aerodrome was the pilot of USAAC P-40E Kittyhawk #183 which crashed on the side of Battens Ridge, Beechmont in the Numinbah Valley region (Gold Coast, Queensland)
