Cause of death ~ Died from Injuries, in New Britain, 1st November 1945, aged 20 years. Sustained a fractured skull when the jeep he was a passenger in overturned on Coast Road, Jacquinot Bay, New Guinea. Private Hynd was on active service when killed and a Court of Inquiry noted no neglect, carelessness or misconduct contributed to the accident. Driver of the jeep was Lieutenant Robert James Thomson, QX57990 who survived the accident.
