Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of Oliver and Ivy JARVIS of 'Claverton' Balladoran, NSW

Official word was received on Thursday by Mr. S. T. Jarvis and Miss Joyce Jarvis of the death of Signalman Gordon Oliver Jarvis, who died of wounds on  February 15, 1942, at Singapore.
Deceased was the only son of the late Mr. and Mrs. O. Jarvis, of "Claverton," Balladoran. He was only a young lad, being 19½ years of age at the time  of his death. From information available, it is learned that Gordon landed at Singapore a month before the fall. He was in the Botanical Garden on 15th  February, 1942, when he was hit by shrapnel. He was buried in Singapore. The sympathy of all is extended to Gordon's only sister, Miss Joyce Jarvis,  who is with the AWAS and stationed at Goulburn. The war has dealt Miss Jarvis a hard blow, for her fiance, Pte. Gordon Irvin, was killed in action on 25th April in New Guinea.
