Flight Sergeant Jay 413204 from Number 8 Elementary Flying Training School at Narrandera was killed in the loss of RAAF Tiger Moth aircraft A17-68 approximately 5 miles east of Leeton, NSW - LAC Geoffrey Alexander Staehli 433398 was injured in the incident, he was discharged from the RAAF in October 1945

His parents were William Gladstone JAY & Ethel Maud SWANSTON who married in Sydney in 1909

He married Thelma Mary TURNER on 31st July, 1943 in Queensland
