Add my storyBiography
Arthur Jessen was my Great-Uncle – the brother of my Grandfather, Vivian Sydney Jessen. When I learnt about him I vowed that he would not be forgotten by me. I don’t know a lot about him as my Grandfather died before I was born, but the little I know about him has painted a picture of a loving, fun, and much loved son. He was the youngest son of Christian and Margaret McKay Munro, and on his father’s side of Danish descent. His brothers discouraged Uncle Arthur from enlisting in the war, but he did, after he received an anonymous white feather in the mail. A white feather which signified that someone thought he was a coward. So, he enlisted and died at the age of 22 years.
