Newcastle Memorial Park (fmly Beresfield Crematorium) NEWCASTLE CREMATORIUM, BERESFIELD, New South Wales. Newcastle was a large coal and industrial city, and a busy seaport, at the mouth of the Hunter River. It is on the Pacific Highway, 106 miles north of Sydney, with which it is also connected by rail. The Newcastle Crematorium is actually within the township of Beresfield, which has its own railway station, 14 miles northwest of Newcastle on the New England Highway.
