The Department of the Navy have officially advised Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Keenan, of Victoria Street, Stanton Hill, that Ordinary Seaman Reginald James Keenan, previously reported missing is now sated as dead.
The notice states: 'There were a number of survivors from H.M.S. Anking and it was regretted neither they nor prisoners of war who recentlyreturned to Australia were able to give
any information of the fate of those still listed as missing.''
Deceased, who was an only son, was a past pupil of the Townsvilla Grammar School and joined the Navy early in 1941.
HMS AnkIng was reported as sunk on March 4, 1942.
