He was determined to join the R.A.A.F.

October 1937-January 1940 was a member of the 2nd Remount Squadron (Militia) - discharged to join R.A.A.F.

5th February 1940 - 26th March 1940 was an Air Cadet but outcome was "unlikely to become an efficient pilot.

27 May 1940 posted to No.1 A.O.S. Cootamundra to begin his journey to become an Air Observer on a Wellington bomber. 

Final posting with the No.37 Shallufa, Egypt.
