FATAL TRAM ACCIDENT
YOUNG GRIFFITH SOLDIER
Great regret wus expressed when it was learned that Gunner Arthur Lawford had been killed in a tram accident in Sydney on Saturday last, (says the "Area News," Griffith.)
The fatality occurred as deceased was returning from Ascot races. The deceased, who was a son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Lawford, Farm 932, Griffith, was a native of Temora. He was 18 years of age and resided here ever since lie was a little boy. Up to the time of going, into camp, January 28, he was employed at Trim's mercers, Griffith.
The remains were brought to Griffith on Monday and the interment took place in the Catholic portion of the Griffith cemetery; Rev. Father O'Dea officiating. Deceased was accorded a military funeral, the pall-hearers being Messrs C. P. Stanton, W. J.Bishop, J. C. Thorne and M. Peasley.
