Flight Sergeant Clarence William Lawton 424771 RAAF (Pilot) was killed in the loss of Liberator KH239 of 31 Squadron SAAF (31SQN SAAF) - six aircraft were lost during an operation carried out by twenty crews to drop supplies to partisans in Italy (target was Vigone, Italy)
