Adolph SAARIJARVI was born on 13th February, 1877 in Orivesi, Tampere, Finland

His parents were Adolph Esanpoika & Loviisa Eliaantytar SAARIJARVI 

Adolph arrived in Australia from Norway on 24th March, 1902 on the ship Serena and embarked in Melbourne - he was living in Chinchilla in Queensland when he enlisted in Toowoomba on 29th March, 1916 

He was with the 4th Australian Pioneer Battalion, 5th reinforcements who embarked from Brisbane on HMAT Seang Choon on 19th September, 1916 - he had previously served with the Military in Finland

Adolph was awarded the Military Medal on 16th July, 1918 - he was wounded on 10th August, 1918 in the advance on Amiens by gun shot wounds to his left arm which was fractured and was evacuated to a clearing station and eventually to the 3rd Australian Military Hospital in Dartford, Kent, England where he died from the effects of his wounds & influenza on 28th October, 1918

He had only just married to Anna Janne TUOMISTO on 28th September, 1918 in the Registry Office in Chelsea, London and she was with him when he died - he is buried in the Brookwood Miliary Cemetery in Surrey, England & was given a full military funeral

Adolph was awarded the Military Medal, British War Medal & the Victory Medal
