Son of Edward Lewis Levy and Elsie Alma Levy, of Boree Creek.
Edward Russell Levy from Boree Creek NSW enlisted in the RAAF on 9 February 1943 at 19 years old. Joining as Aircrew Guard he remustered to Navigator and passed Course 7 at 1 Wireless Operators, Air Gunners and Navigators Training School at Ballarat Victoria and was posted to 5 OTU Tocumwal in April 1944.
During what was Edward's final training flight before completing his training at Tocumwal, the Beaufighter aircraft struck the ground after clipping a tree at the Nangunyah Air to Ground Gunnery range around 10am on 19 June 1944. Both the pilot and 20 year old Pilot Officer levy were killed in the accident.
