Ross Wellesley LINDEMAN. Sergeant 403141, Royal Australian Air Force died 25th January 1942 aged 21.
He was born on the 4th January 1920 to Frederick Harold and Hilda Maud Lindeman, of Edgecliff, New South Wales, Australia . He is at rest in St Andrews Churchyard, Ballyhalbert, County Down. Northern Ireland.
Some notes from his service record. He joined up on the 9th December 1940 as Trainee Cadet, aged 20 and 2 months. After he a completed his training he embarked from Sydney on the 22nd April 1941 and disembarked at Vancouver, Canada on the 14th May 1941. On the 23rd July 1941 he graduated from Flying Training Course, No 11 S.F.T.S, Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada He flew and passed on aircraft Tiger Moth DH82 and Harvard MkII. He disembarked from Canada on the 9th August 1981 fro England where he disembarked on the 31st August 1941. He was killed on the 25th January 1942 at 4.35 at Eglinton, Londonderry as the result of an aircraft accident. He was laid to rest on the 29th January 1942. The grave was identified by a white cross erected by the Imperial War Graves Committee.
The other crew member was Sergeant 817273 Robert LOW, Air Gunner RAF he also died.
