DEATH IN MALAYA
SERGEANT K. W. LINDSAY.
Many hearts were saddened last week when the news came through that Sergeant Kenneth William Lindsay had passed away in Malaya as the result of an accident. "Ken," as he was affectionately known to a wide circle of friends, was the young est son of Mrs. and the late Mr. W. C. Lindsay, of Ellenborough, Hastings River. With his twin sister Mary he attended West Kempsey High School for five years and gained his Leaving Certificate. He later had a very successful record at the Armidale Teachers' College, where he was a prominent member of the college football team. At the time of his enlistment in the A.I.F. in June last year he was on the staff of Morpeth Public School. Though not actually in the fighting zone, Ken has none the less paid the supreme sacrifice, and his many friends will be proud of his memory. Besides his sorrowing mother, he leaves two sisters, Vera and Mary (the former being Matron of Ryde District Soldiers' Memorial Hospital), and two brothers, Colin and Roydon to mourn the passing of a devoted son and brother.
