DRIVER TRAPPED AND DROWNED
Private Horace Sydney Martins, 21, of Park Road, Hurstville, was drowned when a military lorry crashed through Ireland's Bridge, Cabramatta, and sank in six feet of water in Cabramatta Creek yesterday. Another soldier in the lorry escaped. Martins was trapped in the cabin of the lorry. Other soldiers dived and brought his body ashore. A doctor and Liverpool Ambulance officers applied artificial resuscitation. The military authorities will lift the lorry from the creek today.
