Son of Robert Williams May and Ellen Elizabeth May, of Strathfield, New South Wales, Australia.

John enjoyed Golf, Football and Tennis.

Sgt. John Drummond May was a member of the crew of Wellington H.D. 977 which was damaged on landing by bomb explosion, and completely burnt out and as a result of the explosion suffered severe injuries and died.

DEATH IN INDIA
MR. AND MRS. R. W. MAY, Of Strathfield, have been advised by the Air Board that their elder son, sergeant John D. May, was killed in air operations at Digri, India, on January 5.  Sergt. May, who was educated at Sydney Grammar School, was a chemist on the staff of the Colonial Sugar Refining Co. before joining the R.A.A.F.

Sergeant John Drummond May, of the R.A.A.F., son of Mr and Mrs R. W. May, of Strathfield, formerly of Mt. Druitt, was killed in an air operation at Digri, India, on January 5. He leaves two sisters (Edna And Dorothy) and a brother (Bob).

MAY.—In memory of John Drummond May, Sergeant-Observer, R.A.A.F., killed in air operation Digri, India, January 5, 1943, and of his British comrades of 99th Squadron, R.A.F., who died with him.
