Son of John William and Fanny Jane McAllister.
HE ANSWERED HIS COUNTRY'S CALL. HIS DUTY NOBLY DONE
Robert Andrew McAllister was born in 1915 to John William McAllister and Fanny Jane Reid (nee McMullan). He was educated at Gatton High School in Queensland.
Sgt McAllister enlisted in August 1940 and in September left for Canada where he received his training as an air gunner/wireless operator. In May 1941 he left for the UK and was sadly killed on 22 July 1941. Sgt McAllister was an air gunner in a Wellington bomber when, during a night cross country flight, it collided with an intruder over Ashwell, 6 miles north east of Letchworth, Hertfordshire, England.
Sgt McAllister was survived by his sister, Miss F McAllister of Brisbane, and a brother, Mr JC McAllister of Clayfield, Brisbane, Queensland.
