RAAF Dakota A65-61 (VH-CUT) from 38SQN crashed near Merauke, Dutch NG while on a mission to evacuate wounded servicemen to Australia - the RAAF crew of 10 and the 19 soldiers on board were all killed in the accident. The wreckage of the aircraft was discovered in 1970 with the remains of those killed interred in Bomana Cemetery
