The details provided are taken from the book "1000 Men at War" the history of the 2nd/16th Infantry Battalion, published 1959, refer to page 222. Sydney was born 12th Nov 1906, and prior to the war he was a tram conductor of East Perth WA. He served in the 2nd/16th Inf Bn and rose to the rank of Warrant Officer class 1 (RSM). Unfortunately, he was injured in a training accident which caused his death 3rd Dec 1944. Rest In Peace. Lest We Forget.
