WE WILL REMEMBER

McCUDDEN.-September 23, 1943, killed in action overseas, 422033 Flight-Sergeant Reginald Thomas McCudden, R.A.A.F., dearly loved son of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. McCudden, 4 Hyandra Street, Griffith, N.S.W., and beloved brother of Marjorie, Betty, Frank, Harry (A.I.F.), Arthur (A.I.F.), Jack, Bill (Bathurst Camp), and Max, aged 20 years and 4 months. R.I.P.

A report based on investigations at the scene of the crash and interrogation of local residents states that your son's aircraft crashed near Eppenbrunn at approximatley 11.30 pm on the 23rd September 1943, presumably as the result of enemy action.  Eppenbrunn is situated approximately 6 miels south west of Pirmasens, Germany.

The report adds that the bodies of your son and five other members of the crew were recovered from the wreckage and interred in a communal grave No 2 row 4 of the Eppenbrunn Cemetery.

Advice has been received that the following exhumation of the communal grave in the Epenbrunn Cemetery, it was possible to establish the individual identity of your son and one other of the crew.  The remains of all crew members have now been re-interred in Plot XX Row A of the Rehinberg British Military Cemetery, Germany.
