Grear Michael McGEE was born at Lemana via Deloraine, Tasmania on 20th October, 1913
His parents were Michael Francis McGEE and Adeline Bertha LOVATT who married in the Catholic Church in Westbury, Tasmania on 26th August, 1901
He was a Staff Sergeant Major when he married Dorothy Mavis PARTRIDGE on 20th June, 1939 at the Church of the Apostles in Tasmania - the family then moved to Western Australia where they had one son (Wayne)
He enlisted in Perth, Western Australia on 18th May, 1940
Grear died of accidental injuries at the Adelaide Military Hospital received during an explosion while on manoeuvres on 7th September, 1943 and is buried in the Centennial Park War Cemetery in Adelaide, South Australia
His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial & the Roll of Honour in Launceston, Tasmania
He was part of the Australian Military Permanent Forces

His brother Raymond James McGEE (SN TX5238) also served in WW2 and was a Prisoner of War - he survived & was discharged in 1946

Third death from explosion on manoeuvres
Captain Grear Michael McGee of Western Australia who was injured in an explosion in manoeuvres in South Australia last week, died on Tuesday.
The Acting City Coroner (Mr. Ziesing) will conduct an inquest today
Two other soldiers, Driver W.C. Bell-Moore (AMF) of Victoria and W.C. Mills (AIF) of New South Wales were killed in the explosion.

Captain Grear Michael McGee, A.I.F. husband of Mrs. Dorothy McGee & fourth son of Mr. & Mrs. M. McGee, Launceston, died in an Adelaide hospital on Tuesday as the result of wounds accidentally received.
Captain McGee enlisted in the Tasmanian Permanent Forces in August, 1937. At the outbreak of war he enlisted in the AIF and was engaged as an instructor in Western Australia
He saw service in the Middle East, Syria & New Guinea and was recalled to Australia a few months ago as a specialist instructor.
He was a member of the St Vincent de Paul Society, Church of Apostles branch.
Burial took place in Adelaide
Another brother, Raymond is a prisoner of war in Japanese hands.
