His parents Andrew and Ida (nee Bolton) owned the property "Eulimore Springs" Eugowra through his childhood and early teens.  He attended the Eulimore Public School.  In 1927 the family move to 'Illoura' near Caragabal.

Frederick Field McNICKLE was born on 7th May, 1914 in Grenfell, New South Wales

His parents were Andrew John McNICKLE & Ida BOLTON

He enlisted in Wagga Wagga on 26th June 1940 and embarked from Sydney on 12th March, 1941 on the HMT Katoomba

Frederick was listed as missing, presumed dead on 4th February, 1942 in New Guinea - his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial and the Rabaul Memorial (Panel 30) and the Roll of Honour in Caragabel, NSW

His last Unit was the 8th Division Supply Column of the Australian Army Service Corp (Mechanical Transport)

His brother William Walter McNICKLE (SN NX35957) died on the same day (4th February, 1942) He was in the same Unit as Frederick
