Arthur was the second of seven children of Henry Charles Mills (b1895 in Greenhills, WA) and Frances Maud Bishop (b1892 in York, WA). Henry (a Farm Hand) and Frances married in 1914 in Greenhills, WA where they settled and raised their family.
Arthur was a Farm Hand in Greenhills WA when he enlisted in the Australian Army on 13 August 1940. He served as a Trooper (Service No:WX7993) with 2/3 Field Artillery in the Middle East and with 2/3 Commando Squadron in New Guinea. Arthur was in Perth WA on medical leave awaiting Discharge when he died.
