Son of Cosmo and Annie Harriet Mooney, of Gin Gin, Queensland.

ILL-FATED FAMILY
Leading Aircraftsman Cosmo Louis Mooney, eldest son of Mr. Mooney, Gaeta, Gin Gin, recently lost his life in an aircraft accident at a Southern training school. 
His young brother Ian met with a fatal shooting accident four years ago.

Fairey Battle aircraft L4941 & L5650 from Number 1 Bombing & Gunnery School suffered a mid-air collision near Evans Head

Sergeant Finch 417171 and LAC Mooney 44711 were killed in aircraft L5650

Flight Sergeant Neville Graham Monroe 404979 (discharged from the RAAF in February 1945), LAC Colin Henry Wheatley 425913 (discharged from the RAAF in January 1946) & LAC Noel White 434066 (discharged from the RAAF in March 1946) all survived the incident in aircraft L4941
