Son of Alan Roy and Florence Mary Musgrave of Caulfield
Plane was Beaufort A9-5 which crashed about 4 miles north east of the aerodrome at Bairnsdale, Victoria while conducting a navigational exercise towards the sea having taken off from the Bairnsdale aerodrome at 1400 hours. The plane was thought to crashed due to engine failure while practising a forced landing
