Fairey Battle L5683 & L5700 collided in mid-air approximately 5 miles east of Terrigal in NSW while on a ferry flight delivering the aircraft to Number 1 Bombing and Gunnery School

Pilot Officer Reginald George Norris # 821 (pilot of L5683) & Flying Officer Thomas Kenneth Wright # 768 (pilot of L5700) were both killed when the aircraft crashed into the sea

Their bodies were not recovered and they are commemorated on the Sydney Memorial
