Add my storyBiography contributed by Faithe Jones
The death occurred in the Warwick Hospital of Pte Albert James Oakey, 24, from malaria. He was the third son of Mr and Mrs W W. Oakey, North Longreach, and prior to enlisting in the militia in 1941 followed the shearing industry. Three months after enlisting he joined the AIF and took part in the Milne Bay fighting, but was evacuated shortly afterwards suffering from malaria. He is survived by his parents, who reside in Longreach, three brothers, one on active service and five sisters.
